Start of the Zagreb story.
Gric or Gradec is the name of the old part of the city from which together with Kaptol emerged Zagreb today. In the 13th century Croatian - Hungary king Bela IV issued a Golden Bull. Golden Bull is a Charter with golden stamp with which the king declared "free and royal city of Zagreb on Gradec Hill". The Goledn Bull is kept at the National Archives. In 13th century the city established ramparts and fortified towers, and its shape is still very little changed. The city had four gates but the only one preserved today is Stone Gate.
